Bluetooth headphones

Extra features

• ANC reduces low, steady noise; multipoint connects two devices at once
• ENC filters background noise on calls; small fit is for small ears
• Matters if you need any of these features

App

• An app lets you adjust sound and controls and get updates
• Your earbuds work without an app too
• Only matters if you like to customize

Driver diameter

• The speaker's diameter in millimeters
• Bigger isn't always better: tuning shapes the sound
• Only matters if you like deep bass

Microphone count

• The number of microphones per pair of earbuds
• More microphones filter out more background noise during calls
• Only matters for frequent calls or meetings

Water resistance

• The IP rating shows how much water your earbuds can handle
• IPX4 resists splashes and sweat; the charging case usually isn't waterproof
• Useful for workouts and rain, but not for swimming

Bluetooth version

• A higher version number means a newer wireless connection
• The version says nothing about sound quality
• Any version from 5.0 works for music and calls

Battery life per charge

• How long your earbuds or headphones last on one charge, without the case
• ANC drains the battery faster
• Useful for long uninterrupted listening, such as when traveling

Fit type

• Over-ear covers your ears and isolates well, but is bulkier
• On-ear rests on your ears: smaller and lighter, but less isolating
• Affects your comfort during long listening sessions
