To reset AirPods, press and hold the button on the charging case with the earbuds inside and the lid open. There are a few things to keep in mind, though. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone or Android phone. Make sure you remove your AirPods. You'll see a small 'i' to the right of your AirPods. It stands for info. Select 'Forget This Device' (on iPhone) or 'Unpair' (on Android).
  2. Place the earbuds in the charging case. Close the lid and wait 20 seconds.
  3. Open the lid (leave the earbuds in the case), then press and hold the button on the charging case. After about 10 seconds, the light turns red, then white. Only then should you release the button.
  4. Reconnect.

So you reset AirPods in more or less the same way as 90% of earbuds.

You can reset JBL earbuds using the 2 most common methods. Which one you need depends on your JBL model.

At the time of writing (2026), almost all earbuds use the first method. Only the Live Pro Plus uses the second method.

For most pocobob earbuds, you can reset all button controls and settings in the pocobob app.

But resetting them using the controls isn't an option with pocobob.

Good to know:

  • If step 4 doesn't work, you can also put your Jabra earbuds in pairing mode by pressing and holding both earbud buttons with the earbuds out of the case.
  • Download Jabra's Sound+ app to make sure your earbuds have the latest firmware.

So you're using the most common method for resetting earbuds.

What are factory settings?

Restoring your earbuds to factory settings (a reset) removes all their saved connections. A reset also leaves only the firmware (the software) that the factory originally installed on your earbuds.

Your earbuds are then just as they were when you first took them out of the box: a blank slate, ready for a fresh start.

What does resetting your earbuds mean?

Resetting your earbuds means following a few steps to return them to the way they were when you first took them out of the box. You press a few buttons on your earbuds or charging case, and the earbuds forget all their previous connections.

This often helps fix problems with your wireless earbuds.

Reset vs. restart

Do you always need to fully reset your earbuds when something isn't working? No. Often, simply reconnecting them is enough to get them working again.

By reconnecting, we mean briefly disconnecting both earbuds, then putting them back into pairing mode (trying to connect to your device again).
