And are these earbuds a better buy than the 3 SE? You'll find out in this article. If you love full bass, you certainly won't be disappointed.

Fit: how comfortable are the SoundPEATS Truengine 2?
Fit: 8
The Truengine 2 have rubber wings around the earbuds that tuck into your ears. These make the earbuds fit much more securely.
The nice thing about the rubber wings on the Truengine 2 is that they're optional. Prefer not to use them? Just take them off the earbuds.
Until now, we'd only tested this kind of support wing on very cheap earbuds. We found those wings stiff, uncomfortable and even painful. On the Truengine 2, though, the material is soft and the rubber flexes nicely to fit the shape of your ear.
The rubber wings come in 3 sizes, so the earbuds fit every ear.
With the rubber wings attached, these earbuds even work well for exercise. They stay securely enough in place. Still, they're not as secure as earbuds with a rubber ear hook that wraps around your outer ear. Those stay in place even better and are particularly well suited to running.
SoundPEATS Truengine 2 sound quality
Sound quality score: 7.5
The SoundPEATS Truengine 2 Bluetooth earbuds are a good choice if you like heavy bass. The low end is very prominent, perhaps too prominent. Listening to them feels a bit like there's a radio filter over the sound.
The mids and especially the highs don't come through enough. That means you miss some of the fullness of your music. The hi-hat gets a little lost with these earbuds. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

People looking for the right earbuds often ask us which ones have the most bass. The SoundPEATS Truengine 2 would be a great fit for them. So it comes down to taste.
The SoundPEATS Truengine 2 wireless earbuds support AptX, which also helps improve the listening experience. In fact, all SoundPEATS earbuds released in the past year support AptX.
Microphone: calls and video meetings with the Truengine 2
Microphone score: 7.5
The Truengine 2 connect well to a laptop. They work very well for video meetings, partly thanks to the QCC3020 chipset and dual drivers. Put simply, both earbuds connect directly to your device, whether it's a laptop or phone. This makes the connection more stable and faster. The technology is considerably more expensive to produce, though.

Microphone: calls with the SoundPEATS Truengine 2
The Truengine 2 are good for phone calls and work well for video meetings. Keep in mind that the silicone ear tips block out most of the sound around you.
That also means you hear very little of your own voice, which makes talking harder. For some people, that's no problem at all. For others, it's a drawback.

If you prefer to hear yourself better while talking or making calls, foam ear tips for the SoundPEATS Truengine 2 may help. These are the parts that go into your ears, where they slowly expand. They let in a little more ambient sound and are very comfortable, too.
Each earbud has 2 microphone openings. And of course, both the left and right earbuds have a microphone. All in all, your voice comes through very clearly with these earbuds.
Earbud controls
The SoundPEATS Truengine 2 have touch controls. Just like on all SoundPEATS earbuds with touch controls, they work well!
The narrow shape does make the touch area a little harder to find. But it just takes a little getting used to. Every pair of earbuds takes a little time to get familiar with, after all.
Controls: 7
We haven't rated the touch controls higher because you can't customize them. You can't choose which action each gesture triggers. Some earbuds let you set everything up yourself in an app, including models from brands like Jabra and QCY. SoundPEATS still lags behind here.
How do the SoundPEATS Truengine 2 touch controls work?
| Left | Right | |
| 1x | Volume down | Volume up |
| 2x | Music: pause/play Calls: answer/end |
Music: pause/play Calls: answer/end |
| 3x | Voice assistant/Siri | Voice assistant/Siri |
| 1.5 sec. | Previous song/video | Next song/video |
|
4+ sec. |
Power off/on | Power off/on |
The controls almost never let you down. Put your finger on an earbud and it responds. SoundPEATS has done a good job here. Solid touch controls!
Battery: how long can you use the earbuds?
The SoundPEATS Truengine 2 charging case has a battery capacity of 500 mAh. That's exactly the same as the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE and Truengine SE. Nothing special in that respect.

Truengine 2: wireless charging
Where these earbuds do differ from their siblings is wireless charging. At the time of writing, these are the only SoundPEATS earbuds that support it. That's a nice advantage. Is wireless charging a must for you? Go for the Truengine 2.
Conclusion: are the Truengine 2 a good buy?
| Score | |
| Sound | 7.5 |
| Microphone | 7.5 |
| Fit | 8 |
| Battery | 8 |
| Controls | 7 |

Alternatives
Truengine 2 vs. Truengine 3 SE

The Truengine is a little more expensive than the 3 SE. That mainly shows in a few extras. The Truengine 2 has more bass (low frequencies), wireless charging and ear wings to keep the earbuds securely in place.
The 3 SE is more for bass lovers. The 3 SE is more for those who prefer balanced sound.
