We were very impressed by the microphone on the 3 SE. It was one of the best we've tested. We even gave the earbuds a 9! Only the Eardopes B6 Pro had the same score. The SE have a decent microphone, but it falls a little short of the 3 SE.

Earbud controls
The SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE and Truengine SE have very different controls. One pair has touch controls, while the other has buttons.
| Controls | |
| 3 SE | Touch controls |
| SE | Buttons |
Buttons or touch controls? We get mixed feedback from customers. Some prefer buttons, others prefer touch controls. It's very personal. One often-mentioned advantage of buttons is that they never let you down: press the button and the earbuds always respond. A common drawback is that you have to press on the earbuds to push the buttons. Depending on how easy the button is to press, this pushes the earbud into your ear canal. That can feel uncomfortable.
