What stands out about the SoundPEATS TrueWings? Transparency mode is especially interesting, particularly for safety when running with earbuds. This technology is usually reserved for more expensive earbuds. We'll take a closer look at transparency mode later.

Sound of the SoundPEATS TrueWings
SoundPEATS is known for good sound. Running earbuds sometimes sacrifice sound quality, but that's definitely not the case here.
The sound is surprisingly good. So good that you could consider using them at home, too. You do have a frame around your ear, but the sound more than makes up for it.
Sound quality score: 8
There's plenty of power in the bass. It gives your music a professional studio sound. But it's not just the low notes that stand out. SoundPEATS earbuds are known for a well-balanced sound across the full frequency range: lows, mids, and highs.
The mids and lows beautifully complement the powerful sound of the TrueWings. As we often say about SoundPEATS, you can really hear every detail in your music. It's great to hear this level of quality in running earbuds. Let's not forget: these are earbuds for running and workouts. One thing is certain: upbeat music sounds just right on these TrueWings from SoundPEATS. I even think they'll make you run faster.
Transparency mode: amplified ambient sound
More expensive earbuds have a feature that amplifies the sounds around you. How does it work? There's an extra microphone in the earbud. It picks up ambient sound very quickly and plays it into your ear.
Transparency mode is useful for 2 reasons:
- It's a welcome feature in running earbuds because it lets you hear your surroundings. That makes running a lot safer. Ambient sound can be an early warning of approaching danger, so being able to hear those signals while running helps keep you safe.
- When you're on a call or in an online meeting, it's helpful to hear your own voice. That's a common problem with cheaper earbuds: passive noise isolation blocks out your voice. Try talking when you can't hear yourself. It's difficult. This technology makes it much easier.
But this feature is mainly found on earbuds costing €150 or more. Take the Jabra 85t, which we also reviewed, for example.
So we were very surprised to see this feature listed in the manual! In the controls section, it says that tapping the left earbud twice turns on 'transparency mode'.
When we tried it, we could suddenly hear ourselves talking. In short, we were genuinely surprised that SoundPEATS managed to include this feature in earbuds costing around €40. Hats off to SoundPEATS!
Microphone: are the SoundPEATS TrueWings good for calls?
Microphone score: 7
As always, we thoroughly test the microphone on the earbuds we review. That includes earbuds made for workouts, so the SoundPEATS TrueWings are no exception.
Here's the result:
One thing is clear: low frequencies don't come through. These earbuds lose points for that. But the quality of the remaining, higher frequencies is good enough that we still rate the TrueWings well.
As you can hear in the recording above, every word our reviewer says is clear. That hasn't always been the case, especially with other earbuds made for running.
Just listen to these QCY T6 earbuds:
You can hear it: the QCY T6 sounds much more shrill than the SoundPEATS TrueWings. Both are running earbuds.

Fit: how do the SoundPEATS TrueWings feel?
The earbuds have hooks that wrap around your ears. This makes them much more stable than regular earbuds. Shake your head all you like: these earbuds won't fall out.
The hooks are made of a soft, rubber-like material, probably silicone, with a nice amount of flex. We wore these earbuds for an extended period, and the hooks never caused any discomfort.

We did notice some pressure inside the ear canal, but only after about 2.5 hours. Overall, the fit is perfectly fine.

Earbud controls
The touch controls sit right on the circular area with the SoundPEATS logo. They work well and respond very quickly. Just tap and the earbuds respond.
What we never understand is why running earbuds don't have a larger touch control area. It's especially hard to aim your taps while you're running. A larger touch surface would make the controls easier to use.
Controls: 7
How do the touch controls on the SoundPEATS TrueWings work?
| Left | Right | |
| 1x | Volume down | Volume up |
| 2x | Music: transparency mode Calls: answer/end |
Music: pause/play Calls: answer/end |
| 3x | Voice assistant/Siri | Voice assistant/Siri |

Charging case
Running earbuds tend to come with enormous charging cases. That's mainly because the ear hooks need to fit inside, too, making the case very large. The SoundPEATS TrueWings are no exception. This thing is huge!
That's what makes it so impractical. Say you want to use these earbuds on a long bike ride. Taking a large case along is always awkward. Still, we don't have a better solution off the top of our heads either.
It's nice that the charging case has a usb-c port rather than micro usb.
Battery: how long can you use the earbuds?
Each earbud has a 60 mAh battery. That's considerably more than average. We'd put the average at around 50 mAh.
That's because running earbuds are generally a little larger, leaving more room for a good battery. SoundPEATS has made the most of that space.
The charging case also has more mAh than average. Think of earbuds costing around €200, such as the Jabra 85t. Those have a 500 mAh battery. These SoundPEATS earbuds beat the Jabra's capacity despite their low price. That's nice to see.
Of course, there's always something bigger. Some earbuds have a much higher-capacity charging case. Take the Eardopes B6 Pro, for example. Those have 1000mAh!
Conclusion: are the SoundPEATS TrueWings any good?
| Rating | |
| Sound | 8 |
| Microphone | 7 |
| Fit | 7 |
| Battery | 7.5 |
| Controls | 7 |
| Stability | 7 |
